Post-accident Left Eye Orbital Face Fractures with Surgical Repair - Medical Illustration, Human Anatomy Drawing
This stock medical exhibit shows post-accident facial fractures in a series of illustrations. The first illustration shows an anterior view the normal anatomy of the skull. The second illustration shows the post-accident condition of the skull in an enlarged view, including fracture of the orbital floor with severe step off on the infraorbital rim, a non-displaced fracture of the fronto-zygomatic suture and a displaced tripod fracture. The third illustration shows entrapment of soft tissue within the orbital floor fracture in an anterior cut-away view of the left orbital region. The fourth illustration shows the first step in the procedure, including the elevation of the displaced fracture through a lateral brow incision and the exposure of the orbital floor through a lower eyelid incision. The fifth illustration shows the placement of a silastic implant to cover the orbital floor bone defect. The sixth illustration shows the post-operative condition, depicting the reduced fractures and the position of the silastic implant over the orbital floor defect.
